Grand Theft Auto (GTA) San Andreas is an action adventure video game developed by Rockstar North, and published by Rockstar Games. This game is the 3rd 3D game in the Grand Theft Auto series, the 5th on console release and the 7th game overall. Originally released for the PlayStation 2 in October 2004, the game was later ported to Xbox and Microsoft Windows, now a new Android release and received high acceptance and sales on all three platforms, and earned the highest selling game record on the PlayStation 2. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was followed by Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and preceded by Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
The game is set in the fictional state of San Andreas, which has three metropolitan cities. Set in late 1992, San Andreas centers on a street gang member named Carl "CJ" Johnson who returns home from Liberty City to Los Santos after learning of his mother's death. CJ discovers that his old friends and family are falling apart. Through the game's storyline, CJ slowly uncovers the plot behind his mother's murder while developing his business venture. Like other games in the series, San Andreas consists of elements of driving and third-person shooter games, and features an "open-world" gameplay that gives players more freedom to play. The game adds several features, such as car modification, and character personalization, such as hairstyles, tattoos, and more.
